Utah woman arrested after allegedly driving with person on top of car hood

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A Utah woman was arrested after allegedly driving with a person on the hood of her car following an argument.

Probable cause documents show that West Valley City police were first called to the area of 4100 S and Falcon St. on Saturday, May 24, following a traffic accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Police said they learned that the victim of the accident had been in a verbal altercation with the driver, identified as 18-year-old Khadija Mohamed. According to police, the victim had gotten on top of the vehicle that Mohamed was driving during the altercation. Mohamed allegedly continued to drive with the victim on top of the car.

Police say that Mohamed turned east on 4100 S, and when she reached the intersection, the victim fell off the top of the car and landed on the road. As Mohamed continued down the road, another car struck the victim who had fallen off the car.

Mohamed reportedly admitted that she knew the victim had fallen off the car and had been struck by another vehicle, and left the scene of the accident without checking on the victim or calling 911.

Police said that 3 1/2 hours after the incident, Mohamed called authorities to report her involvement in the incident. She has since been charged with failure to remain at an accident involving injuries.

The victim is currently in the hospital in critical condition.
