Mississippi father, son killed after car crashes into fallen tree

HOLMES COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Lexington man and his 16-year-old son were killed after their vehicle hit a fallen tree in Holmes County.

The crash occurred on Highway 14 just after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24.

Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said a 2004 GMC Sierra was traveling west on the highway when it collided with a fallen tree that was partially in the roadway.

Troopers said Calvin Cox, 37, and D’Kbryn Cox, 16, received fatal injuries from the crash and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials said D’Kvyon Cox, 13, was a passenger in the vehicle and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
