At around 3:19 a.m. on Sunday, Novato authorities responded to an upside-down sedan near the railroad crossing on Hamilton Parkway. Police said the car’s occupants were able to exit the vehicle. Both sustained moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to Novato PD, the driver was a 31-year-old Novato man. Police determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested at the hospital and subsequently booked into the Marin County Jail once medically cleared for felony driving under the influence causing injury.
“This is an important reminder that driving under the influence can lead to severe consequences or even cause death,” the department posted on its social media. “Please do not drink and drive, especially this holiday weekend and keep in mind the severity of a simple decision.”
Anyone with information related to this collision is asked to contact Novato PD at 415-897-4361 or email police@novato.org.
