McMinnville woman, dog killed after being hit by pickup truck

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A McMinnville woman and her dog were killed after police say the two were hit by a pickup truck while crossing the street early Saturday evening.

Just after 5:30 p.m., McMinnville police and fire crews responded to the intersection of Southwest Old Sheridan Road and Cypress Lane on reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle.

On arrival, they found a woman, identified as 46-year-old Audra Ackerman, and her dog dead at the scene.

Police said Ackerman had been walking her dog north on Old Sheridan Road and crossed the intersection when she was hit by the pickup going westbound on Cypress Lane.

Officials said the driver of a pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

“There is no indication that intoxicants or excess vehicle speed were contributing factors in this crash,” McMinnville police said. “And the overall investigation to date indicates this was a tragic accident.”
