Owner charged after four dogs kill other pets in McMinnville neighborhood

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman is facing charges after police say her four dogs killed other pets in a McMinnville neighborhood earlier this month.

On March 7, police received a call reporting dogs had escaped their yard and were running loose in a residential area of Northwest McMinnville.

While on the run, authorities said the four dogs killed two cats and one small dog.

The dogs were eventually found captured by police, but were not immediately impounded due to lack of kennel space, authorities said.

But once a search warrant was served on the owner’s home on March 13, all four dogs were taken to a kennel where police say they will be kept pending court hearings.

The owner, identified as Sarah Atwood, was charged with having a dog at large and having an unrestrained vicious dog.

Atwood’s first court appearance is scheduled for April 16.
