NJ couple accused of abusing girl to remain in jail

(WPHL) — A New Jersey couple who allegedly held a girl captive at a home in Gloucester Township will remain in jail.

Brenda Spencer, 38, and Branndon Mosley, 41, appeared in front of a judge Thursday for a detention hearing.

Investigators say the couple abused a minor inside a home since 2018. The victim escaped captivity on May 8 and was able to go to authorities.

“Clearly, anyone that would commit these atrocities on a child, let alone a child that they’re related to by blood and affinity, beyond inexcusable. Beyond horrific. Beyond heinous. It’s absolutely unfathomable,” said Grace MacAulay, Camden County Prosecutor.

Spencer and Mosley are expected to be back in court on July 23.
