Chicago police were called to a parking lot in the 0-110 block of E. 111 St. shortly after 4 p.m. following reports of a shooting involving two victims.
When officers arrived, they found a 34-year-old man, identified as Monte Potts, suffering from a gunshot wound to the back and another man who had been shot in the head and right forearm.
Both men were transported to Christ Hospital in critical condition, where Potts later died.
Police say the incident began inside a business in the area when the two victims got into an argument with a male suspect. It quickly escalated into a physical altercation outside, during which the suspect pulled out a gun and fired.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and is at Roseland Hospital in good condition.
The investigation is still ongoing.
