FRESNO COUNTY, (KSEE/KGPE) – The man killed in a head-on crash in Fresno County on Thursday morning has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
On Friday, the coroner’s office identified the victim as 20-year-old Gabriel Vasquez of Raisin City.
According to the CHP, the crash happened around 5 a.m. on Thursday on Hayes Avenue, north of Huntsman Avenue, near Raisin City.
CHP said Vasquez was driving a GMC Terrain on Hayes Avenue when he allowed the vehicle to cross into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a Toyota Camry.
CHP reports Vasquez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Life-saving measures were attempted, but Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two occupants of the Camry sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to officers.
Investigators said they had found preliminary indicators that the at-fault driver might have had a medical emergency before the crash, but an examination has yet to be conducted by the coroner’s office to determine whether the medical condition contributed to the collision.
This is an ongoing investigation.
