Another accused of helping Orleans Justice Center jailbreak inmates

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Another person has been arrested in connection with the Orleans Justice Center jailbreak investigation.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, around 3 p.m. on Friday, May 23, a search warrant was executed on a home in New Orleans East where one or more of the residents were suspected to have helped some of the inmates after they escaped on May 16.

Police say four people inside the home came out without issue and were taken for questioning. One of the occupants, identified as 28 year old Emmitt Weber, was arrested as a result of the questioning, and is accused of helping two escapees.

Weber is charged with accessory after the fact of simple escape. He is the fifth person outside of the jail to be charged with helping the escapees.
