Addis native John Foster shares journey after ‘American Idol’

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Season 23 of one of the most popular singing competitions on national television has officially wrapped. Artist John Foster spoke with Louisiana First anchor Andre Moreau following his “American Idol” journey.

Foster said his life has changed since being a contestant on the show.

“It has just been like rocket fuel to my career to be on American Idol,” he said. “I went from 0 to 500 within a couple of months, and it’s just been an incredible ride.”

Judges on the show constantly mentioned how Foster’s voice and performances improved each round, and he shares that he felt the same way.

“I will say I’m proud of myself. I can say that that’s something that I usually don’t say very much, but I can say that I’m proud of myself for the growth that I’ve had,” said Foster.

“I grew vocally, artistically, and spiritually in just a couple of months. I grew in so many ways, and I think of myself as a whole different person than I was. I still have my same core, my same values, and my same beliefs, but I’m just better in a lot of ways. And I’m really thankful that I was able to do that,” he added.

Foster completed the “American Idol” series without a manager, but is now seeking professional management for the future.

“Now everything’s going on. And I absolutely am looking for management, you know, because it’s a lot to manage myself, you know? And so to have a manager would be amazing,” he shared. “So I’m in the works right now and I’m super excited for whatever comes in the future.”

After the John Foster celebration in Addis, he stated that that was the “absolutely best day of his life.”

Next up for Foster includes performing at the Cajun Country Jam in Denham Springs on Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, where he will be joining Greg Morgan and Chase Tyler. Tickets can be purchased here.
