A fire weather watch means the combination of weather conditions and dry fuels may bring a higher fire risk. This is typically issued one to three days in advance.
Weather conditions that increase the ability for fires to spread quickly include strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures.
When within 12-24 hours of the event, a fire weather watch may be upgraded to a fire weather warning, which is also known as a red flag warning.
On Thursday, weather conditions will be favorable to support an elevated fire danger.
The wind will increase during the afternoon, and by the evening, gusts over 30 mph will be possible. The air will be dry, and relative humidity will be at 5-15%. Temperatures will be hot again, and we’ll reach the low 90s.
Please be mindful of your activities to prevent sparks and fires.
