Warm temperatures and dry skies continue for Utah this week

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Wednesday, Utah! Today will be another gorgeous day in the weather world with dry skies and warm temperatures. Northern Utah can expect to see similar temperatures to Tuesday, if not a few degrees warmer, which places northern valleys in the upper 60s to low 70s, and low to mid-60s for higher terrain. Southern Utah will run about 5-10 degrees warmer with highs climbing into the upper 70s to mid-80s while St. George breaks into the low 90s.

The warming trend persists into tomorrow as high pressure continues building over the region. By Thursday, most Utahns will climb into the low 80s, mountain valleys stay in the 70s, and St. George tops out in the mid to upper 90s. Thursday will feature a mix of sun and clouds in the north with the chance of a shower popping up. Any showers we do see will be very brief and may not even reach the ground before evaporating. High terrain is favored, but we can’t rule out an afternoon shower on the Wasatch Front.

Temperatures take a baby step back Friday and Saturday, but it’ll still be warm. On Saturday, we get an uptick in moisture as a system brushes us to the north and a few isolated showers could move through northern Utah, but there doesn’t seem to be a ton of moisture associated with this storm – certainly not like last weekend. Lingering moisture could spell a northern Utah shower Sunday and Monday, but it doesn’t look very likely right now.

Overall, Memorial Day weekend is setting up to be fairly pleasant, and although a shower could interrupt outdoor plans for some on Saturday, the impacts will be minimal. On Memorial Day, temperatures rebound back into the 80s.
