‘Superstar’ Cotati police K9 helps locate missing woman with dementia

(KRON) — When there was a need for a hero, a four-legged one with an incredible sense of smell answered the call. On Tuesday, Santa Rosa Police Department officers were dispatched to locate a missing 81-year-old woman with dementia.

Despite the officers’ best efforts, they were unable to locate her. That’s when “Dolly,” a K9 officer with the Cotati Police Department stepped in.

According to Santa Rosa PD, the “superstar bloodhound” used her keen nose and determination to track the woman down to a house, just six doors away from where she lived.

“The missing person was found safe and sound, and Dolly’s quick work ensured she safely returned home,” Santa Rosa PD said. “Thank you, Dolly, and Cotati PD, for another successful mission.”

Dolly, who specializes in finding missing persons, joined Cotati PD in 2023.
