DeWitt, a Republican representing District 25, was selected by Rural Caucus Chair Rep. Rhonda Butler. The Rural Caucus is the largest legislative caucus in Louisiana, with 80 members from both the House and Senate representing rural communities across the state.
“I’m proud to serve on the Rural Caucus Executive Committee and thank our Chair, Rep. Rhonda Butler, for appointing me to the position,” DeWitt said in a statement. “This caucus is the largest and strongest in the Legislature.”
First elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2019, DeWitt currently serves on several key legislative panels, including the Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development Committee; the Appropriations Committee; the Natural Resources and Environment Committee; the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget; and the House Select Committee on Disaster Recovery.
The Louisiana Legislative Rural Caucus focuses on policies and initiatives that impact the state’s rural communities, with members advocating for issues such as infrastructure, agriculture, education, and healthcare access in less-populated areas.
