Lafayette narcotics bust results in major drug seizure, arrest

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A narcotics investigation in which nearly three pounds of Fentanyl and nine pounds of methamphetamine were seized, lead to the arrest of a 30-year-old Lafayette man on May 21, deputies said.

Jaelon Broussard was arrested and charged with possession with the Intent to Distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine and marijuana, possession of ,marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, deputies said.

Authorities said they executed two search warrants Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of Rue Ferdinand and in the 300 block of Feu Follet Rd. As a result, they discovered 2.9 pounds of fentanyl , 9.1 pounds of methamphetamine and two ounces of marijuana.

Broussard was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. No bond information has been released.

This case remains under investigation.
