According to LSP, troopers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 90 B near Ames Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. Troopers arrested the driver, identified as State Rep. Kyle M. Green, Jr.
The investigation revealed Green was headed west on the highway in a Honda Accord when he reportedly ran off the road, crashing into a concrete barrier. Troopers said his three children were in the car with him.
LSP said they noticed signs of impairment and conducted “a series of standardized field sobriety tests.”
He was arrested and booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center and charged with:
The children were not injured in the crash and have since been released to a family member.
“Impaired driving, whether from alcohol, drugs, or both, is dangerous and can have deadly consequences. Avoid driving impaired and never get into a vehicle with an impaired driver. Always ensure passengers are properly restrained and stay focused on the road. Making responsible choices can save lives,” said LSP Troop B.
