One day earlier, just after 4 p.m. on May 19, CPD responded to the parking lot in the 0-110 block of E. 111 St. following reports of a shooting involving two victims.
At the scene, officers found a 34-year-old Monte Potts, suffering from a gunshot wound to the back, and another man, later identified as Dexter Williams, shot in the head and right forearm.
Ambulances rushed both men to Christ Hospital in critical condition, where each was later pronounced dead.
According to police, the altercation turned physical when an offender, who Chicago police have not yet named, fired multiple gunshots in the victim’s direction.
Police add that the offender suffered “injuries to his body,” causing hospitalization, but did not specify the nature.
An investigation is ongoing.
