FEMA teams to go door to door in Henderson

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – As the Henderson community awaited the opening of the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center on Wednesday, Henderson Emergency Management officials said Disaster Survivor Assistance Teams will be deployed.

Wednesday, May 21, marked the first day of FEMA’s door-to-door canvassing operations. FEMA announced that canvassers would be accompanied by Henderson EMA, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, and FEMA in previously flooded areas.

Officials want to remind citizens of the following:

  • FEMA will not enter areas posted as private property or those posted with no trespassing and any purple-painted warnings
  • FEMA cannot open closed gates, but will leave a flyer
  • FEMA personnel will be identifiable by a marked FEMA vest and badge with a gold chip on the badge
  • FEMA will never ask you for money
  • Please restrain loose dogs
