49ers, All-Pro LB Fred Warner agree to new multi-year extension: reports

(KRON) — The San Francisco 49ers have locked in one of their best players to a multi-year contract extension. According to multiple reports, the 49ers and linebacker Fred Warner have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $63 million, averaging a salary of $21 million per year.

Warner is guaranteed $56 million. The deal makes him the highest-paid NFL linebacker, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Warner was entering the final year of his current deal, which he signed in 2021. At the time, he was the NFL’s highest-paid inside linebacker. According to NFL Network, the 2021 contract extension was worth more than $95 million, $40.5 million guaranteed.

Warner, 28, is coming off another season in which he received first-team All-Pro honors. In his seven-year career, Warner has four Pro Bowl selections and four first-team All-Pro honors.

The deal comes a few days after the 49ers signed quarterback Brock Purdy to a five-year, $265 million contract extension. Last month, San Francisco signed All-Pro tight end George Kittle to a four-year extension worth $76.4 million.

This story will be updated.
