Man arrested after driving through Chowchilla spring parade

CHOWCHILLA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was arrested after unlawfully driving through the Chowchilla Spring Festival Parade Saturday, the Chowchilla Police Department announced.

Police reported that during the Chowchilla Spring Festival Parade, a driver allegedly ignored barricades and patrol cars on Robertson Boulevard and traveled into the parade.

Officers report the driver continued for several blocks, placing hundreds of people in danger.

Chowchilla PD conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver they identified as Jose Campos Delgado of Chowchilla. Delgado was booked on suspicion of multiple offenses, and his vehicle was also towed.

“It only takes one time for a tragedy to happen and we will always do our best and error on the side of caution. Please drive safely and pay attention to your surroundings at all times,” Chowchilla Police said in a release.
