In a Facebook post, AWTFD reported that Scott Huff and his wife were involved in “a serious motorcycle incident” during Mother’s Day weekend. AWTFD reported that Huff and his wife spent nearly a week in the hospital after the crash.
The department indicated that both Huff and his wife have returned to central Indiana and are continuing the rehabilitation process.
Per AWTFD, Huff and his wife sustained various injuries and fractures in the crash.
In its Facebook post, AWTFD asked community members to keep Huff and his wife in their prayers.
“Regardless of what could have been, they are pushing forward with the help and support of family, friends, and their Church, Fight, and Fire Communities,” AWTFD officials wrote in a Facebook post.
A Facebook post AWTFD made nearly a year ago indicates Huff was hired to be the agency’s Division Chief of Fire Training in June 2024.
Per the post, Huff joined AWTFD after more than 24 years with the Indianapolis Fire Department, where he ultimately rose to the rank of captain. Huff has also worked with the Wayne Township Fire Department.
According to AWTFD, Huff has worked as a rescue specialist team instructor and rescue team manager with Indiana Task Force 1 as well.
