RPD indicated that it intends to conduct another prostitution sting soon. While it did not specify if its next operation will be focused on the same area of town, RPD did indicate that the City of Richmond is actively trying to revitalize the 1400 block of East Main Street.
RPD reported that it is trying to support the City’s efforts to revitalize the area via targeted enforcement and increased police visibility.
“That’s real policing,” RPD Chief Kyle Weatherly wrote in a prepared statement. “That’s what protecting your community looks like. We’re not just enforcing laws — we’re sending a message that this kind of exploitation won’t be ignored in Richmond.”
RPD did not report exactly what preliminary charges the four people it arrested during the sting face.
