Southeastern softball takes down LSU on the opening night of the Baton Rouge regional

BATON ROUGE, La. — Southeastern is arguably the most dangerous four-seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament field.

Friday night, they showed the country why with a 4-3 win over LSU on the opening night of the Baton Rouge Regional.

The result comes as no surprise after the Tigers needed a sacrifice fly to beat the Lions, 3-2, in their first meeting of the year back in February at Tiger Park.

The Tigers took a three-run lead into the fourth frame, where Southeastern responded with an RBI double from Maddie Watson, an RBI ground out from Kailey Dixon, and the third run of the inning courtesy of a wild pitch.

In the top of the seventh, Cydnee Schneider would deliver the go-ahead run on an RBI single to right center field that scored Maria Detillier.

The Lady Lions’ defense would close out the Tigers in the bottom of the frame after two spectacular plays from Colleen Kulivan and Maris Detillier.

The Lady Lions secure the program’s first win over a national seed in the NCAA Tournament and now advance to the winner’s bracket, where they will face Nebraska Saturday at noon.
