IMPD investigating reported homicide on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a reported homicide on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

According to officials with IMPD, officers responded to the 4500 block of Jamestown Ct. at around 12:50 p.m. on Thursday on a report of a death investigation. IMPD officials later determined the incident as a homicide.

Officials said that they located a person at the scene with injuries consistent with “a gunshot wound(s).” The person, who police said was found inside an apartment, was pronounced dead on scene.

In an update from IMPD, officers identified the person who died as an adult man. Officers did not give any information as to what led to the incident.

Officials with IMPD said that officers arrested an individual near the scene of the homicide. However, officers said they were arrested on unrelated warrants. IMPD said that they believe this was an isolated incident and there is no immediate danger to the public.
