Detectives with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit attempted to arrest Jason Whitmire, 50, of Rohnert Park, at 7:10 p.m. near the 9200 block of Camino Colegio when he fled in a vehicle, authorities said. The pursuit reportedly reached speeds of 90 miles per hour across the North Bay city.
Two passengers inside the vehicle with Whitmire pleaded for him to pull over, according to the sheriff’s office, but Whitmire continued to drive. Authorities said Whitmire then crashed near Roberts Road and Petaluma Hill Road and fled on foot.
Sonoma County sheriff’s K-9 Duke assisted detectives in apprehending Whitmire. A loaded firearm was found in the vehicle, authorities said.
Whitmire was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries before being booked into the Sonoma County Jail. In addition to the outstanding warrants, Whitmire faces charges for assault with a deadly weapon against an officer, vehicle pursuit, firearm possession by a felon, possession of a loaded/non-serialized firearm, kidnapping and resisting arrest.
Bail was set at $131,000.
