Taste of summer heat begins on Tuesday
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The large upper-low that brought rain and cool temperatures this weekend will quickly be replaced by an upper-level ridge that will bring the hottest temperatures of the year so far this week.

Tomorrow’s forecast

A rather hot Tuesday:  Temperatures will return to above-normal levels on Tuesday thanks to plenty of sunshine.  Temperatures on Tuesday morning will be near normal, with lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.  The combination of a breezy south to southwesterly wind and lots of sunshine will warm temperatures Tuesday afternoon into the upper 80s to lower 90s.

Futurecast outlook for the next 36 hours

Near-record heat on Wednesday:  The hottest day of the week will be on Wednesday.  Daytime highs will probably soar into the middle 90s.  A few locations could reach the upper 90s.  The record high in Shreveport on Wednesday is 98 degrees, which was set 150 years ago in 1875.  Wednesday’s record high in Texarkana is 99 degrees.  That record was set in 1922.

The heat eases later this week:  Our long-range weather picture shows mainly dry weather through Friday.  We will see a chance of a few isolated showers and thunderstorms on Friday night into the weekend.  Our next best shot at some rain will likely hold off until the middle of next week.  Once we get hot, we will stay hot.  Highs through most of the 10-day period will mainly be in the low to middle 90s.  Overnight lows will mainly be in the low to middle 70s.
