According to Chicago police, the incident unfolded just before 2 a.m. at the Clark/Lake station in the 100 block of West Lake Street.
Officers said they were initially called to the scene following a report that a victim, a male whose age is unknown, had fallen onto the tracks at the station.
Officers said the victim was later pronounced dead on the scene, though they confirmed that he had not been struck by a train.
It is unclear exactly what led to the victim’s death or what led to the fall.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed and an investigation into the incident is underway.
