On Tuesday, around 2 p.m., Portland police officers responded to the area of Southeast 80th Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard on reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a van.
Officers found the severely injured motorcyclist, who was transported to a hospital before being pronounced dead.
“The driver of the van stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation,” the Portland Police Bureau said in a press release.
Officials said several blocks of Southeast Powell Boulevard are now closed as the crash is being investigated by the PPB’s Major Crash Team.
According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, the crash has closed down Powell Boulevard/U.S. 26 between 80th and 82nd. It is advised that people avoid the area and expect “extended delays.” ODOT’s TripCheck site has more information about the latest road closures and delays.
