Children invited to explore glass art, science, and history in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A glassblowing summer camp for children will be held in Shreveport.

Children ages six and older will observe a live demonstration that includes science, art, physics, and history. Afterward, each child will create one of five glass pieces: an ornament, a small heart, a flower, a leaf, or a feather. The glass must cool overnight so the projects will be ready for pickup the next day. Each child will also receive a small jar of honey and pretzels to imitate the experience of gathering molten glass. Children are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes, preferably sneakers, and clothing made from natural fibers.

Camps will be offered every Tuesday and Wednesday from May 20 to July 30, from 10 a.m. to noon at 1120 Texas Ave. The cost to attend is $45 per person. Please note that availability is limited to 12 children per date. To purchase your ticket, click here.
