The Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) will accept your returns at no cost through the Louisiana Taxpayer Access Point web portal. Residents can submit returns using tax preparation software or with printed state returns available online.
A state law passed during the 2022 regular legislative session created an automatic six-month filing extension. LDR said the extended due date for state income tax return is Nov. 17.
The automatic extension applies only to the filing of state income tax returns. It does not provide additional time to pay taxes due. According to LDR, tax payments submitted after the May 15, 2025, deadline are subject to penalties and interest.
Details about the individual income tax filing extension can be found here.
