Hayward man dies after vehicle collides with motorized bicycle

(KRON) — A 64-year-old Hayward man is dead after a crash involving a vehicle and a motorized bicycle on Friday morning, said the Hayward Police Department. The incident has been confirmed as the city’s fifth fatal traffic collision of the year.

HPD said its officers responded to the area of Depot Road and Adrian Avenue at 10:19 a.m. Police said the driver of the vehicle was uninjured and cooperated with investigators.

The bicyclist was found at the scene suffering from injuries tied to the crash, said police. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol played roles in the incident.

The victim’s identity is not being released until next of kin has been notified.

This is an active case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Hayward PD’s Traffic Bureau at (510) 293-7066.
