According to Sayles, he has accepted a new position and will be leaving the police department.
“It’s bittersweet as I am sharing some personal news. I’ve been proud to serve as your police chief these past four years, and I am proud of everything we have achieved together,” Sayles said in a statement. “I am sharing today to inform you that I have accepted a new position. This opportunity provides a unique chance for me to continue my career and contribute to a new community, and I am grateful for the support I have received to pursue this path. I will announce my destination at a later date.”
Sayles’ last day will be June 6th, 2025.
Sayles has been with the Beloit Police Department since 2005, joining as a patrol officer. In 2013, he was promoted to sergeant 2013. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2017 and to captain in 2020.
He was appointed Chief of Police in April 2021.
