1 slain, 1 injured in Oakland shooting Thursday

(KRON) — One person was killed and another injured after a shooting in Oakland’s Dimond District overnight Thursday, according to authorities.

The Oakland Police Department responded around 12:45 a.m. to the 3400 block of MacArthur Boulevard to investigate a ShotSpotter activation. Arriving officers located one victim with a gunshot wound or wounds, OPD said. The victim, who was not identified, was rushed to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

A second victim with gunshot wounds arrived at the hospital through private transportation, according to police. The second victim was reported to be in stable condition.

At 10:12 a.m., Oakland PD announced that a man was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
