ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Tyriss Washington, 21, was arrested Tuesday night after police said a stolen gun was found during a traffic stop.

According to the Rockford Police Department, officers with the Specialized Community Oriented Policing Enforcement (SCOPE) team stopped a vehicle at Court and Grace Streets at 7:15 p.m.

Washington was a rear passenger in the car, police said. During a search of his person, officers said two loaded ammunition magazines were found along with the stolen weapon.

He was booked into jail on charges of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and no valid Firearm Owner’s Identification.
