According to the INDOT Traffic Management Center, officials had closed all the lanes of I-70 EB between IN 39 and Center Street near mile marker 60 as authorities responded to the incident. The notification confirmed that at least one individual was trapped in one of the involved vehicles.
The area is roughly five miles west of Plainfield. INDOT confirmed shortly after 4 p.m. that Lifeline was en route to the scene.
Indiana State Police said one occupant was transported to Methodist Hospital in serious condition. INDOT confirmed around 6:20 p.m. that all lanes had reopened and no more delays were expected.
