VPD said the incident happened on June 9, 2024, at 1:51 p.m. when officers responded to multiple reports of gunshots. Witnesses directed officers to a nearby yard on the 1300 block of Alabama Street where they found a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The woman was reportedly seen leaving a moving vehicle moments after gunshots erupted inside.
Before she was taken to a local hospital for emergency care, Vallejo PD said the victim identified her shooter as 41-year-old Hector Placencia-Gazmuri.
Police said Placencia-Gazmuri was contacted by officers on Tuesday at the Martinez Detention Facility in Contra Costa County, where he is being held on charges not tied to this case.
Vallejo police confirmed that Placencia-Gazmuri will be taken to the Solano County Jail and booked for suspicion of attempted murder and kidnapping.
Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact Officer Zach Horton at Zach.Horton@cityofvallejo.net.
