She faced competitors from 2A through 6A classifications, winning bronze in shot put and silver in the 400-meter and setting a new state record with her gold medal win in the 100-meter. In the 100-meter, she placed 17:44, a few seconds slower than her personal best.
As a freshman, this was Autumn’s first-ever state track meet to compete in, but she has been making a name in the para-athletic world in Olympic tryouts and other local, state, and national events.
KTAB/KRBC Spoke with Fought’s mother, Brandi Fought about her daughters win today. Brandi Saying “It just makes me feel proud of how much work she’s willing to put into it. We let her lead in all things track and field, and this year she’s had to work really hard and adjust to a new chair…And you can see the smile on her face the moment she knew she got gold, and that was the best part. Just to see her so proud of herself.”
Autumn and her family will stay in Austin this weekend to watch the others compete and go right back into training. As soon as she is set to compete in an International Grand Prix Track Event next weekend. That event will also give her eligibility to compete in other International competitions, for which Autumn says she is excited to continue to push herself to the top of her ability and the top of her field.
