The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media that deputies had been dispatched just before 1:45 p.m. on Thursday to Old Union Church Road in Laurel County, where Holley Strother, 19, was found, shortly before law enforcement contacted social services.
The 18-month-old reportedly had bruises on his face and back, authorities said.
Strother was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child under age 12. She was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
The child abuse investigation remains ongoing.
