Storm timing: Our rather complicated weather pattern will continue on Friday. Futurecast shows a dying complex of thunderstorms will enter the northern part of the ArkLaTex Friday morning. Outflow from this system will likely serve as a trigger for more scattered storm development later in the day. The location of this development could be anywhere. A cold front will then produce more showers and thunderstorms Friday evening and Friday night. Most of the rain will end by early Saturday morning, and we will likely see some sunshine by the end of Saturday as drier air invades the area.
Any severe weather? Right now, the Storm Prediction Center indicates that we will have a marginal to slight severe weather risk. The slight risk should be confined to East Texas and Northwest Louisiana. Large hail and damaging winds will be our main concerns. The risk of tornadoes is not zero, but it will be very low.
How much rain: Since the anticipated storms will be rather scattered, we will likely see a wide range of rainfall totals. Many locations could see less than ¼”. It’s also possible that we could see several locations receive more than 2”. The chances of seeing heavier rain are probably highest over East Texas and Northwest Louisiana.
A nice weekend for a change: The good news is that most of the weekend is looking rather pleasant. We will see sunshine gradually return on Saturday. The dry weather will likely continue into the beginning of next week. Highs this weekend will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Overnight lows will dip into the 50s!
