Baton Rouge native crowned Miss Louisiana’s Teen 2025

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge native teen was crowned Miss Louisiana’s Teen for 2025.

Virginia Kirkpatrick, a junior at Episcopal High School, got the crown on Sunday, April 27, at the University of Louisiana Monroe over 18 other young women this year after getting second runner up in the 2024 competition. She qualified for the Miss Louisiana’s Teen competition after winning Miss Louisiana Port City’s Teen in Shreveport.

One of the benefits of winning Miss Louisiana’s Teen is scholarship money. By taking home the crown, Virginia has won a little over $7,500 up to this point.

One part of the competition is a community service initiative. Kirkpatrick’s initiative is about educating others about organ donation, inspired by her grandfather’s act of kindness when he donated his kidney to a relative. She serves as an ambassador for the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency.

The local high school student joined other family members as pageant winners. Sister Laura Jane Kirkpatrick won Miss Louisiana’s Teen 2023, and her mother, Heather Dupree Kirkpatrick, was crowned Miss Louisiana in 1998. Even her grandmother, Jane Foshee Kirkpatrick, had experience being in pageants. She was named Miss Mississippi in 1969.

“I have gotten to see how holding a title has shaped my grandma, mom, and sister, and now I get to see how it shapes me,” Virginia said, reflecting on her family’s involvement in pageants. She’s grateful to experience what her other family members did.

“I have been able to see the connections they’ve gained, the friends they’ve made, and the difference they’ve made through their year of service. Now, I get to do the same thing,” Virginia said.

Heather said she is proud of her daughter, “who worked hard and gave it her all” to achieve her goal. She admitted it was harder to watch Virginia compete in the pageant compared to being in it. She said, “I have never been more nervous in my life.”

After winning Miss Louisiana’s Teen 2025, Virginia moves forward to compete in Miss America’s Teen in early September.

“The Miss America opportunity is something so special, and the fact that I get to experience it as Miss Louisiana’s Teen means everything,” she said.

Outside of pageant life, Virginia is a certified scuba diver, runs track, does triple jump and hurdles, and competes in dance. As for what the future holds for Virginia, the Miss Louisiana’s Teen 2025 winner said she is looking at colleges with hopes of attending the University of Georgia.
