The ribbon-cutting ceremony marks the completion of a multi-million-dollar, two-part project to renovate sports fields in Texarkana. This baseball field ribbon-cutting follows the successful unveiling of the upgraded Grady T. Wallace soccer complex, which took place on April 26, 2025.
The renovation process began in the summer of 2023 when the city partnered with MTG Engineering and Symmetry Sports Construction. The improvements include upgrades to the baseball fields and bullpens, remodeling of the concession and restroom facilities, and various other enhancements.
The ribbon-cutting for the reconstructed Swanger Complex will take place on May 2 at Spring Lake Park. Gates will open at 5 p.m., with the ceremony starting at 6 p.m., followed by ceremonial first pitches on each field.
The city says by enhancing these sports complexes, they aim to further tourism and economic development opportunities in Texarkana.
