New officers sworn into Danville, Decatur Police Departments

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — More than a dozen new police officers were sworn in on Wednesday between two Central Illinois cities.

In Decatur, the police department welcomed 11 new patrol officers. Ten of the 11 new hires will head to the law enforcement training academy.

This includes Cade Brown, Ashlan Bussman, Dionte Lewis, Johnathon Luttrell, Lindsey Novak, Thomas Russell, Joshua Scudder, Chris Tyhurst, Harry Vickers and David Williams.

Kyle Zulkowski is a lateral hire from the St. Louis area and will not go through the academy again.

The Danville Police Department swore in five new police candidates on Wednesday.

They will head to the Police Training Institute (PTI) for a 16-week Basic Law Enforcement Course. Then, they’ll return to the Danville Police Department for an 18-week Field Training Program. The new police candidates include Blaine McCord, Noah Gomez, Phillip Howie III, Michael Moreman and Aaliyah Denius.
