ASHTON – A suspect was arrested Sunday morning in connection with a shooting investigation in the Ashton area.
It happened around 2:30 a.m., according to a Facebook post from the Rexburg Police Department.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office called upon Rexburg PD and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office to help after hearing reports of shots being fired at a nearby house.
Authorities later confirmed someone did fire a gun while having an argument with others. They found shell casings on the scene and police say alcohol was a factor in the incident.
No one was hurt.
Rexburg police officers eventually found the suspect and his vehicle, which had a gun inside and shell casings that matched those on scene.
Police have not released the suspect’s name, but he was arrested on multiple charges after law enforcement obtained a search warrant.
