Police release name of man arrested in Ashton shooting Sunday

ASHTON — Fremont County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the man arrested in the Sunday morning shooting.

According to a news release by the Sheriff’s Office, Alex Hernandez was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm and disturbing the peace.

The release says someone reported shots being fired in the Ashton area. Multiple deputies responded and determined Hernandez allegedly shot multiple rounds in an unknown direction.

No one was injured and there was no damage to property.

On Sunday, Rexburg Police Department stated in a Facebook post that shell casings were found at the scene and alcohol was a factor.

Hernandez was found in Rexburg after FCSO reached out to Rexburg Police Department and Madison County Sheriff’s to aid in the arrest of Hernandez.
