BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A 13-year-old boy from Denham Springs died after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle early Sunday morning.
The crash happened just after 1:20 a.m. on April 27 on LA 1026 near Magnolia Boulevard. Louisiana State Police said Matthew Temple was riding his Huffy bike west in the westbound lane when a 2008 Dodge Dart, also traveling west, hit him from behind.
LSP said Temple was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital but later died.
The driver of the Dodge was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt. Police collected routine toxicology samples as part of their investigation, which is still ongoing.
This is a developing story.
