SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport (HACS) has been awarded $182,374 to support its ongoing efforts to help families increase their earned income.

The grant was awarded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program.
“This funding is a powerful resource for our families,” said Bobby R. Collins, CEO of HACS.
“Through the FSS Program,
brighter futures through education, job training, and financial empowerment.”
According to the news release, the grant is designed to reduce families’ dependence on public assistance and ultimately achieve financial independence.
