Marshall, Texas art walk attracts crowds to downtown scene

MARSHALL, Texas (KTAL/KMSS)—The Art League of Marshall hosted its first-ever ArtWalk, which organizers consider a massive success.

Downtown Marshall was abuzz with activity as patrons walked downtown to view art, visit vendors, and listen to live music. Art League participants showed their wares and interacted with an eager audience.

Any first-time event has the potential to disappoint and draw less interest than anticipated. The ArtWalk did not have that issue. Crowds were steady and robust for the duration of the event despite overcast skies. Art League President Laura Merrill was pleased, saying, “The Art League of Marshall is very pleased with the turnout for the inaugural downtown ArtWalk. Meeting the artists and seeing their art is one of the biggest benefits of an ArtWalk and adds value to purchased art.”

With a successful first venture, the Art League is optimistic about the future. Merrill added, “This event was supported by many businesses, media, organizations, and the community, and we are grateful for their support. A fall ArtWalk is in the plans. ”
