DICK’S House of Sport, located at 6501 Bluebonnet Boulevard, will hold its grand opening weekend starting Friday, May 16. The store will be the first DICK’S House of Sport in Louisiana and the 22nd location nationwide.
The celebration will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, giveaways, and in-store events, and special guest appearances.
Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will be at the store on Saturday, May 17 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to meet fans. Former LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas, Jr. will follow with an appearance on Sunday, May 18 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The first 100 adults (ages 18 and older) in line each morning will receive a mystery gift card. The first 300 guests in the store each day (ages 10 and up) will get a free 30-ounce Stanley Quencher. The first 100 kids (under 18) in line each morning will receive a DSG soccer ball. The weekend will also include on-field activities, sweepstakes, and deals.
The Baton Rouge location spans approximately 100,000 square feet, offering an extensive assortment of products and in-store experiences. Features include golf bays equipped with Trackman simulators, a climbing wall, and a multi-sport cage for athletes to test products and track performance across sports like baseball, softball, lacrosse and soccer.
DICK’S first introduced its House of Sport concept in Victor, New York, in April 2021. By the end of 2025, the retailer plans to have 25 House of Sport locations across the U.S., opening 16 new stores this year alone.
The new Baton Rouge store will take over the space formerly occupied by Sears at the Mall of Louisiana.
