SDPS officers were dispatched to Dick’s Sporting Goods about a shoplifting in progress. Authorities learned that an unidentified male and female suspect tried to steal $2,000 worth of merchandise from the store, the law enforcement agency said.
Officers were able to arrest the suspects at the scene.
An investigation later revealed that the two suspects were responsible for other thefts earlier that day at multiple stores in the Peninsula team, according to SDPS. Officers then discovered the estimated $20,000 worth of merchandise in their vehicle.
Both were booked into Santa Clara County Jail for multiple offenses, including grand theft. SDPS did not reveal any other information about their identities.
