MONROE COUNTY, Ind. — A Bloomfield driver was critically injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Wednesday morning on I-69 near State Road 445, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 6:47 a.m. on April 23 and found that the driver of a Nissan Armada had been ejected from the vehicle. Emergency personnel discovered the driver had a pulse but was suffering from a serious head injury and a leg injury.
Due to the severity of the driver’s injuries and the crash’s proximity to an Eastern Greene Fire Territory station with a helipad, a medical helicopter was called in to transport the driver to a hospital for emergency treatment.
Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle rolled multiple times. The driver remains in critical condition as of Thursday morning.
Authorities are withholding the driver’s name at this time out of respect for the family and due to the evolving nature of his condition.
